Childhood Sexual Abuse \ Family Violence
Child abuse and family violence can have lasting impacts. Often the scars are no longer visible but the emotional wounds last. Survivors may continue to be re-victimized and repeat unhealthy patterns without resolving their traumatic experiences. It becomes important to have a safe space that is non-threatening and supportive to work through previous abuse. Often survivors blame themselves and re-experience the trauma in the form of flashbacks or intrusive images, feelings and thoughts. Learning grounding techniques and challenging self-blame are important in healing and empowering survivors to fully thrive and develop healthy and trusting relationships.
"out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars."
