Group therapy provides an opportunity to connect with individuals that might be going through the same issues. It allows for understanding and helps decrease feelings of isolation as well as can be a powerful way to address issues with others that "get it". I have been known to develop a group based on a lack of support for clients in the community and to connect people together that have similar challenges. Previously, I have facilitated groups for teenage body image/eating disorders, social anxiety groups, grief and loss, hospice caregiver support groups, childhood sexual abuse survivors, coping skills groups and dialectical behavior therapy groups.
