What To Expect
Starting therapy can provoke feelings of anxiety. Knowing what to expect can help prepare you and ease your mind. After contacting me via phone or email (I do not have receptionist and usually return calls and emails within one business day), we will schedule an initial appointment. Prior to your appointment, you may complete the new patient paperwork found on my site and bring with you to the appointment. I can also email these forms and they will be in my lobby (on a purple clipboard) if that is more convenient. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment time to complete. I am more than happy to go over the paperwork if you have any concerns or questions. If you have insurance, please contact your insurance carrier to determine the patient costs for services (see rates and insurance page for more information on this process).
My office is located off of County Road 210 in NW St. Johns County. For more detailed directions, please check my contact section. There is no sign outside my office to ensure privacy. I do not have a receptionist and ask that new patients have a seat in the lobby and I will come out to greet you. Often I am finishing up another session. The first session provides you the opportunity to get to know me and see if I am the right fit for your needs. The therapeutic relationship is critical in establishing trust and safety, so making sure you are comfortable is important. Additionally, I will ask questions to understand what brought you to counseling and gather a history. These questions allow us to develop a treatment plan together and develop interventions that will work best for you. I look forward to meeting and working together. |
